About Our School in Tapovanam

The Vidyalaya had its humble beginning at 13th Avenue, Harrington Road, Chennai - 31, on Vijayadasami Day in October 1968, with a small strength of 30. In 39 years the Vidyalaya has grown remarkably with a strength of 1500 students and about 100 faculty members. The New high school building consecrated by Pujya Gurudev on 12, August 1990 is located centrally at the heart of the city in the calm area of Taylor’s Road, Kilpauk. The Primary section has also expanded to occupy its modern well designed block at 17, Harrington Road. The Vidyalaya functions from 8:30 AM to 3:10 PM, with the kindergarten and primary up to class III, at Harrington Road, and classes IV to XII at Taylor’s Road. The school curriculum is formulated in accordance with Chinmaya Vision Program so as to provide each student physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual enhancement. Bhajan, Gita Chanting and Moral Instruction are included in the curriculum besides academics. The Vidyalaya is now under the able guidance of Principal Sri. C. Sathiyamoorthy who is a recipient of National Award for Best Teacher.
The school building with three floors, houses well equipped chemistry, physics, biology and computer laboratories and a separate lab for the juniors. The updated library stocks around 15,000 books, magazines and journals as well as educational audio and video cassettes which provide students with a lot of reference and reading materials. The audio-visual room has a capacity of 150 seats and enables us to screen educational films and carryout presentations, career counseling, seminars, etc.

Club Activities

To encourage out of the box thinking, clubs like Literary, Science, Eco, Math and Economics are infused into the curriculum.
